My name is Mike Carroll and I have been doing logo design, custom illustration and cartoons since I graduated from Western Washington University. I graduated with a degree (BA) in Art and Design. I also attended Eastern Washington University where I graduated with a degree (BS) in Political Science. Currently, I live in Spokane, WA where I do freelance art, design and websites.
At this time most of the work I do is whiteboard and animation videos. Please contact me if you are interested in a video for your business.
I have been published in several newspapers and magazines and have won several awards for my work. While attending WWU, I won 3 SPJ/SDX (Society of Professional Journalists) northwest regional first places for my work as a collegiate editorial cartoonist for the school paper (The Western Front), and then I attended EWU for about two years. While at Eastern, I did some editorial cartooning for the school’s newspaper (The Easterner). While at EWU, I won the northwest regional first place award again, and that year I also won the SPJ/SDX National first place award among all college cartoonists in the nation. I have also done two internships with two daily newspapers, where I was doing news infographics and editorial cartoons. I have been published in several newspapers and a few magazines as well.
Drawing and illustrating is nice, but being an editorial (political) cartoonist is just plain fun. I believe that editorial cartooning is it’s own art form, and I know many of my colleagues would agree with that statement.
